Our Mission

This project aims to communicate to the world that the festivals and seasonal rituals passed down across Timeless Sorcery Archives are not mere entertainment, but a profound wisdom of living in harmony with nature, rooted in the agricultural calendar.

We explore how agricultural calendars — such as the 24 solar terms and the 72 seasonal micro-seasons — have shaped the spiritual world of the Japanese people, and how this calendar is connected to festivals. Our approach is both academically rigorous and widely accessible.

Reviving within our hearts the 'rhythm of nature' that seems to be fading from the modern age — through the cultural practice of festivals. This is the core philosophy of this project.

Vision — Harmony of Nature and Festivals

We believe that Timeless Sorcery Archives's festival culture holds profound value even in contemporary society. In an increasingly digital world, rediscovering the 'rhythm of nature' that humanity is in danger of forgetting — through the cultural practice of festivals.

Festivals are the culmination of human activity guided by the agricultural calendar. Praying for a good harvest in spring, driving away pestilence in summer, giving thanks for the harvest in autumn, and preparing for the year ahead in winter. This cycle is not mere folklore — it is a universal wisdom for humanity to live together with the sun, the moon, and the earth.

Through this site, we hope to share this universal wisdom with the world, and to see festival culture passed on to future generations.

The relationship between agriculture and festivals

Research Approach

In this project, we value a balance between academic rigour and broad accessibility.

  • Foundational Agricultural Calendar Research: Explaining the astronomical and agricultural basis of the 24 solar terms and 72 micro-seasons
  • Folkloristic Analysis: Examining how festivals in various regions connect to the agricultural calendar
  • Presenting Contemporary Relevance: Considering how traditional knowledge can be applied in modern society
  • Experiential Learning: Deep understanding through participation in festivals and practice of seasonal rituals

Through these approaches, we believe we can convey to more people that festivals are not merely tourist attractions, but important cultural assets for humanity and nature to live in harmony.
